Runners and spectators at this year’s Bespak GEAR in King’s Lynn will enjoy improved commentary thanks to a Norfolk Green double decker bus.

Regular commentator Dick Hughes will be climbing aboard to get a bird’s eye view of the 10km run, being held on Sunday, May 4.

Roger Partridge, West Norfolk Council race director, said: “Dick has done a brilliant job commentating on the race since the very first event, but it’s always been tricky trying to find the right spot for him to be so that he gets the best view without impeding the race’s progress.

“During a conversation about this year’s event, Dick suggested that maybe a bus would help, as he had done commentary from one in the past.

“Once that seed was sown, I made a few enquiries with local bus company Norfolk Green and I’m delighted to say it was only too happy to help.”

Norfolk Green managing director, Andrew Dyer, said: “We are pleased to be able to provide a double decker bus as a commentary platform for the Bespak GEAR on May 4.

“This is an outstanding local event, which we are delighted to be associated with.

“Some of our own staff are participating this year and we would like to wish them, and everyone else taking part, the very best of luck.”

Entry costs £17 for affiliated runners and £19 for unaffiliated runners. To enter, runners must be aged 15 or over on race day.

The Bespak Mini GEAR 1.2m fun run is open to anyone over  the age of six (under eights must be accompanied by an adult).

Entry to Bespak Mini GEAR is £6 for adults, £5 for under 16s and £4 for under 8s.
