Punters in King’s Lynn had hot tips on Tuesday when commentator Derek ‘Tommo’ Thompson came to town.
The former Channel Four racing frontman was at the Broad Street branch of William Hill offering tips and keeping customers entertained.
Tommo appeared on TV for more than 30 years and is a well-known face in the world of horse racing.
He joined Channel Four in 1985 and remained with the broadcaster until 2012 when he was treated for bowel cancer at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.
Recently returned from the Qatar Festival which he was covering, Tommo was promoting William Hill and offering free bets to punters calling in to say hello.
He was also giving out free gifts from the bookies, ranging from racing diaries to sports bags.
Tommo chatted to the customers and was happy to be in photographs with them.
“It’s all good fun and I love meeting people,” he said.
Punter Mick Healey, of Lynn, said he was chuffed to meet Tommo at a bookie in the town.
