SPEEDWAY: European commitments kept King’s Lynn Young Stars ace Robert Lambert out of Sunday’s National League play-off semifinal first leg at Mildenhall but he made up for lost time in the second leg on Wednesday.

The youngster rattled off a 15-point maximum to lead Lynn to a 98-88 aggregate victory and book in a place in the final against Dudley.

Jake Knight also weighed in with a paid-13 haul and Darren Mallett added another 10+2 as the Stars wiped out their first-leg eight-point deficit inside just three heats.

It looked all over after seven races with Mildenhall 16 points adrift but they rallied with a pair of double-point rides.

Stefan Nielsen grabbed a win for a 6-3 in Heat 8 and then Daniel Halsey and Ryan Terry-Daley combined for a 7-2 in the following race to level the aggregate score.

But the hosts pulled clear to stop any worries after that.

The Young Stars had trailed 49-41 after the first leg in Suffolk. A top scoring performance from guest Steve Worrall (13+1) was backed up by solid displays from fellow guest Kyle Hughes, Knight and Mallett.
