FOOTBALL: Tilney had to work hard for their Norfolk FA Primary Cup win at West Winch, despite roaring into a 3-0 lead.

Adam Chenery put them ahead from the spot before Luke Girling slotted home a fine second. Sean Copeland struck a fantastic left foot half volley, which rocketed into the top corner, but Winch grabbed one back just before half-time.

The hosts came out on the front foot and made it 3-2, only for a close range strike from Tyler Webber to restore the two goal advantage. Winch pulled back again to set up a nervous ending. The visitors’ man of the match was Gavin McGregor.

Birchwood finally managed their first win of the season in a hard-fought game against Earlham Colney.

Andrew Wood opened their account but they were indebted to Paul Sainty for keeping them ahead. Rowan Smith found Brad Wilson who crossed for Andrew Wood to make it 2-0 and a late goal from Smith sealed things. Man of the match was Paul Phillips.

Five goals in a 20-minute second-half blitz against Gressenhall Reserves powered Denver through. Gressenhall led at the break but an excellent solo effort from Matthew Wolfe started a Denver goal feast.

A brace from 16-year-old Dan Harper, including a penalty, plus strikes from Danny Brooks and PKS Construction/Morris Armitage man of the match Sean Dyer completed a 5-1 win.

A much depleted Snettisham side restricted high-flying One Love United to a single lead until early in the second half before succumbing to a 7-1 defeat in their last match at Bircham Newton.

Every Snettisham player gave everything but they were beaten by a slick and very fit side. Rhys Nichols netted a hat-trick to help Methwold United cruise through 6-0 at the expense of Dereham Athletic. The others came from James Langley, Carl Spooner and Ed Bristow.

Narborough rattled in three goals at home to North Pickenham but unfortunately their visitors responded with five of their own. Matthew Marshall, Stephen Reid and Ryan Williams found the net for the hosts.
