FOOTBALL: Downham Town manager Pete Brassett stepped down for personal reasons on Monday, September 2.
He said: “I have got a baby on the way and it’s about time my family took centre stage.
“Focusing on my career as a coach, I’ve grown apart from the people close to me.
“There has been no fall-out with anyone. It’s a good club with a good group of players.”
On Saturday Downham picked up their first points to lift themselves off the foot of Thurlow Nunn League with a 3-2 victory at Braintree Town Reserves. Scorers in Division One were Dickson, Willmott and an own goal.
This weekend they travel to Boston Town in the FA Vase First Round Qualifying and on Tuesday Downham host Great Yarmouth.
Charlie Butt rescued a point on Saturday with a second half goal for Peterborough League King’s Lynn Town Reserves, who were 2-1 down at half-time to visitors Whittlesey United.
Valter Fernandes had netted in the first half.
Jonny Secker scored a brace for the second successive game in Outwell Swifts’ 4-0 success over Lakenheath Res. Others on target in the Cambs Kershaw League were Ben Jimson and Mark Secker.
