Past pupils of Downham Market Grammar School are planning a diamond reunion next year.

Nine former pupils met up again for the first time recently and decided to try and track down as many of their old friends as possible.

The group of nine attended the school between 1954 and 1961 and met at the Watton home of Richard Yallop.

One of them, Margaret Garde (nee Yule) travelled from her home in France to meet her old friends.

A reunion in 2011 and another in 2012 prompted them to try and find more classmates.

“We had such a good time catching-up and reminiscing about the old times that we have decided we really ought to do something special next year to mark 60 years since we all started at the school,” said Diana Rix (nee Matthews), of Castle Rising.

There were around 38 pupils in the same year as Mrs Rix and she said they have tracked down a number of them.
