West Norfolk Community Transport has been offering a range of door-to-door transport services for 21 years this year.

The charity offers help to anyone with mobility problems who cannot use public transport.

A National Lottery grant was awarded to the group to provide a new workshop facility which opened in March. It is available to local charities for vehicle service and repair.

The charity is always looking for volunteer drivers and escorts. Community car drivers provide an important link for people who may otherwise find themselves housebound.

Dial-a-bus is a popular service provided by the organisation and it offers both a rural and urban service to members.

The urban service is around Lynn and Swaffham and it costs £2 a journey, or £1.50 for concessions.

People living in the villages around Lynn, Swaffham, Fakenham and Downham can use the rural service which offers 60 regular weekly journeys costing between £2 and £6 depending on location and concessions.

There is also a shopmobility scheme offering a range of scooters and wheelchairs for hire from a base at St James multi-storey in King’s Lynn.

The Swaffham Transport Project is also run by the charity and is based at the town’s community centre.
