Think of boules and the image most people get is of balmy French evenings playing on dusty ground.
But for members of the West Norfolk League, it has been a winter long competition.
A competition was held at Heacham Social Club to celebrate the end of the winter season with 18 pairs in action, before a buffet and presentation for the day’s and overall league winners.
Victors on the day were Paul and Tricia King (Narborough Social Club), ahead of Adrian Hubbard and Matt Faulkner (Bushel & Strike, Heacham) with Matt Hemsley and David Cornwall (Narborough Social Club) third.
Division One and league winners were The Abbotts (Gayton Crown), with Stingrays (Narborough Social Club) second and The Marketeers (Downham Market) third.
The Division Two title was won by Heacham Social Club’s Social Aces, narrowly beating Twinners Too (Downham Market). Third were Gladiators (Lynnsport).
The league runs within a 20-mile radius of King’s Lynn and includes teams from Downham Market,
Narborough, Gayton, Heacham and Lynnsport.
The summer season is due to start later this month with seven teams playing at two venues on Wednesday evenings.
The season will finish in July with another presentation day due to take place at Heacham.
