Promotion is firmly in King’s Lynn Town’s hands after a 2-0 win over Sutton Coldfield put them in pole position in Division One South of the Evo-Stik League on Saturday.
Dan Jacob was the home hero, striking a brace, to make the most of previously runaway leaders Coalville’s continued collapse.
The Midlanders stretched their winless run to seven games with a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle and it leaves the Linnets, who had trailled Coalville by 17 points, two points clear with just three matches to play.
Lynn took the lead after 54 minutes when Jacob followed up after Dan Quigley’s header was blocked.
The second goal came after 66 minutes when Jacob exchanged passes with Danny Beaumont before finishing well from just inside the penalty area.
Gary Setchell’s team are at Market Drayton tomorrow before welcoming Sheffield for their final home match on Tuesday, when a win could see promotion, depending on Coalville’s results at Rainworth and Leek.
