There were mixed fortunes this week on King’s Lynn AA waters as the variable weather conditions continued to affect water temperatures and catches.

Local angler Steve Whelan made the most of the brief midweek sunshine to catch a fantastic bag of 32 carp, up to 14lb from Tottenhill.

They were all caught on homemade paste, pole fished in the margin.

Other anglers reported more modest catches there, but it seems to fish best with a little and often feeding approach, rather than lots of bait.

Shepherds Port catches were also affected by the weather with Bear Lake producing carp to 6lb and Shepherds Lake producing mixed bags of carp and bream on the feeder with the odd bonus tench from the margins.

Springside saw a few more anglers and they were rewarded with carp up to 11lb and a few small
tench and roach.

King’s Lynn AA have introduced a new bailiff at Tottenhill, John Leedle, They thanked Bob Harrod
for the hard work he has done for the club as he stands down from bailiffing. Brian Rix also joins the team who bailiff Springside.

It was good to see genuine EA bailiffs checking rod licences on local waters at the weekend. All anglers please note, all King’s Lynn AA officials carry photo ID, which they will produce when
selling day tickets or checking permits.
