New signing Dan Jacob has made an immediate impact for King’s Lynn Town, scoring in his first two games to put the Linnets right on the tail of Evo-Stik One South leaders Coalville.

His stunning 30-yard strike after four minutes of Tuesday’s match at Chasetown was enough to earn victory as Lynn closed the gap on leaders Coalville to just seven points.

Jacob had netted the opening goal in a 2-0 win over Leek Town on Saturday. The new signing from St Neots needed just 30 minutes of his debut to open his account at The Walks and a 43rd-minute strike from Shane Tolley saw Lynn move clear of Stamford, who lost on both Saturday and Tuesday.

With the gap at the top slowly being reduced, the clash between the top two at Coalville on April 16 could prove to be the title decider.

Gary Setchell received the February manager of the month award before Saturday’s kick-off and his team are now unbeaten in 13 games.

Lynn are at Market Drayton on Saturday with Kidsgrove visiting The Walks on Tuesday.
