GOLF: The course record was broken three times during Heacham Manor’s club championships weekend
A gross competition for men was played over 36 holes and first round results saw the top 24 players all break gross 90.
However, the top players achieved some of the lowest scores in the history of the event with father and son Anthony Stannard on 73, ahead of Luke Stannard on 74.
Previous winner and course record holder Warren Bates led the field, setting a new record of four under par on gross 68.
The top 21 players made the cut for the final. With the first-round leaders going out last, the leader in the clubhouse changed a number of times.
With the final group of Bates and the Stannards to finish, the leader in the clubhouse was Alastair Pykett on 152.
Bates broke the record again by shooting five under par 67 to retain the trophy for the third year in a row.
In the ladies event, holder Ella Mason kept her title in style, shooting a new ladies record of gross 74, 19 ahead of Chloe Tarbard.
