A King’s Lynn-based group has received a bumper boost of almost £11,000 from a former mayor and mayoress.

David and Linda Whitby,  West Norfolk mayor and Mayoress from May 2016 to May 2017, chose the Lavender Hill Mob Theatre Company as their charity to support. A variety of fundraising events were held and the couple have handed over £10,915.

Mr Whitby said: “It was a great privilege over the last year to get to know the Lavender Hill Mob and its fantastic team of volunteers. It drove me and my committee to go the extra mile to raise monies for this great cause.

“To raise an enormous £10,950 was outstanding and I did not do this alone. I would like to thank my charity committee and all those who supported me with their, time, enthusiasm and friendship over the last 12 months. The monies were well received and will help this totally voluntary organisation to help deliver workshops and performances consisting of a fully inclusive cast drawn from all walks within our local community.”
