Years five and six children at St Martha’s Catholic Primary School have made the most of new facilities for their end of term production.

The 10 and 11 year-olds staged a total of four performances during Monday and Tuesday of the classic fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast.

Headteacher at the Field Lane school, Aidan McGovern, said expansion at the school has meant the 60 children could make the most of staging and theatrical sound and lighting in the new hall.

He said the production was a team effort of pupils, teachers, support staff and after school club members who had made costumes, headdresses, props and scenery.

Pupils were also production technicians and looked after lighting and sound.

“It was wonderful. From our point of view and from the point of view of the parents, the children were able to really shine when they got on stage and it was lovely to see,” said Mr McGovern.

See next week’s Your Local Paper for more pictures from the production.
