CYCLING: Ray Barnett continued his flying start to the season in the King’s Lynn Cycling Club 10-mile time trial on Wednesday.
Having set a personal best of 23.35 in the opening event the previous week, he went even faster, posting 22.58.
He was pipped for second place by a margin of 10 seconds by James Senter with the overall win taken by Ben Stancombe in 21.50.
Simon Hardy and teenager Tye Rugg competed on mountain bikes with knobbly tyres, recording times of 30.53 and 38.27.
Newcomer Alec Seaman, riding in Royal Navy colours, came home in 31.16, despite stopping to fix a puncture. The fastest lady was Kay Burgess with an impressive 25.54, ahead of 13-year-old Bethany Barnett, who leads both the ladies and juniors’ classifications.
