ATHLETICS: Health and injury concerns were brushed away by Ryston Runner Paul Harrison as he out in a championship best performance.
Competing at the Southern Indoor Championships for master athletes, which also featured the Eastern Masters Championships, Harrison leaped back into the limelight with a 10.87m triple jump.
It came after several months of issues and earned a championship best performance in his new M50 age group and put him top of his age group rankings for this event for 2017.
New member Tim Rudd was the sole Ryston Runner in the 750-strong field for the Stamford Valentine’s 30K road race.
Finishing well inside the top half of the field, in 228th place, Rudd was pleased with a time of 2.30.38 over the challenging, hilly course.
Ryan Wood and David MacQueen were part of the Norfolk u11 boys team that took part in the Regional Sportshall Athletics Championships, in Hatfield.
The pair were selected for the county team following excellent performances throughout the winter’s sportshall season.
Norfolk competed against five other counties from the Eastern Region.
The u11 boys finished a creditable second, behind Essex.
The Ryston pair both contributed to the Norfolk team’s success.
The highlight for Wood was finishing joint first in the speed bounce, while McQueen was a member of the victorious hurdles relay team.
