A pyjama day and cake sale organised by children at Southery Academy has raised £124 for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
The charity was selected by pupils in Year Six and members of the school council attended its offices at Wymondham, near Norwich, to find out more about its work with young people in the region.
Julian Goodrum, principal, said: “It was great for the students’ fundraising efforts to be acknowledged by EACH. “It makes me very proud of our children to know that they chose this worthwhile cause on their own and then organised the fundraising as well.
“Our academy council is taking an increasing role in the development of the academy and this is an excellent example of their personal development.”
Emma Taylor, a community fundraiser at EACH, said: “All the staff, students and parents have helped our 131 children and young people who are currently receiving our care in Norfolk alone.”
